"Touched By The Sun," by Carly Simon, from _Letters Never Sent_ (1994). I thought this might be the theme song for the year, but that's silly. It's been a recurring theme since I first heard it in 1994. I'm an unabashed fan of Carly Simon. And this is a potent song. I heard it most recently when Shane and I visited Deb in Rochester. She had the CD in her stereo, and I played "Like A River" and then this. Both were lost on Shane. I suppose that says a lot. But I know that neither is lost on Deb, which says just that much more about our friendship. So here's to Carly, and here's to Deb. "I've got to learn from the greats, earn my right to be living... Let my sings of desire soar over the night... I need to let them say, 'She must have been mad...'"
